Liberty Tabletop Says Farewell To Team Member Joining Air Force

SHERRILL, N.Y – It’s always hard to say goodbye to a great team member but when they choose to do something selfless, it’s encouraging to see. Matthew McCall joined our Liberty Tabletop / Sherrill Manufacturing team this past Summer and this will be his final week here as he is heading to Air Force Basic Training.

He joined the military in 2020 but, due to COVID-19 his training date was delayed. Matthew likes to be active, wanted something to do while he waited. He saw that we were hiring and applied. In August 2020 he joined our team and has been working hard since! At the factory, Matthew works on the furnace which he enjoys because he likes staying warm and he’s always moving around doing different tasks.

Homegrown in Sherrill, NY, and a former graduate of VVS Matthew feels like he’s at home here and he is! He also previously attended Onondaga Community College in Syracuse and SUNY Polytechnic Institute in Marcy in which he studied computer programming.

Even though he’s stayed close to home he has always had a connection encouraging him to consider a military career. Matthew was inspired by his father who was also in the Air Force. His father told him that choosing to join the Air Force was the greatest choice he’s ever made. With that in mind, Matthew decided to go for it! He said that his focus of study is also a career path option in the Air Force so he decided to go for it. Matthew was scheduled to leave for Basic Training this March but an opportunity came up for him to go sooner so he decided this is his time. Next week Matthew heads to Texas to start his Basic Training in the Air Force. He says he has a lot of learning ahead of him as he will be doing his training. Once that’s complete he will move on to, two schools one in Texas and another in Florida. It’s a good thing Matthew enjoys the heat!
